Second Annual FDIC Courage and Valor Fun Run
Saturday, April 25, 2009

Firefighters, members of the fire service equipment and service industries, and citizens of Indiana, start preparing now for the second annual FDIC C&V Fun Run, to be held at Indianapolis’ White River State Park on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. on the final day of the fire service’s oldest and most revered annul event, FDIC. Last year, 300 firefighters enjoyed running on one of the most scenic paths in America.

Mark your calendar, and lace up your running shoes. All proceeds go to help sponsor the Ray Downey Courage and Valor Medal and Award presented each year at FDIC. Named for Chief Ray Downey, one of America’s Bravest, a hero of 9/11, and a legend of immeasurable stature, Chief Downey was a Marine, an innovator, a community supporter, a man of deep faith and boundless energy, and a lifetime avid runner who was always present in the early morning before classes began at FDIC running the streets, inspiring us all.

We will gather again on April 25 to share the laughter, joy, and family that define the fire service. We will run as Chief Downey ran; we will run because we will never forget him or what he taught us. Join with us regardless of whether you run a 17.30 or you walk with your coffee as long as it takes--all are welcome. Registration is $20.00; running with 500 other firefighters, family, and friends is priceless.

To register, go to Ken Long and Associates’ Web page http://www.kenlongassoc.com/ and look under 2009 Events. All preregistered participants will receive T-shirts.
