25 to Survive: The Commercial Building Fire

Monday, April 24
The commercial building fire is a lower frequency fire event for the American fire service when compared to the residential building fire. However, the annual number of line-of-duty deaths (LODDs) for this structure type has remained consistent year after year. Additionally, many after-action, near-miss, and LODD reports cite the incorrect application of residential tactics at the commercial building as a contributing cause. These sobering facts demonstrate that we are not prepared for this strategically and tactically taxing event. Couple in additional factors such as complacency, increased areas for search, and the demand for larger water flows to fight the fire, and you can see the need for increased training in fighting the commercial building fire. This dynamic and interactive program will address 25 critical firefighting concerns common to the commercial building fire and tactically sound tips, techniques, and drills that you can implement in your firehouse.
