This workshop emphasizes the importance of understanding building construction. It will teach the essential tools needed to recognize all types of building construction and how fire behavior affects each type. An in-depth look at the dangers of lightweight components and newer building materials used in today's construction industry is provided, as well as how to recognize where they are used and why. Emphasis is also placed on the importance of good communication on the fireground with regard to proper size-up of building conditions. If our enemy is the fire, then the fire is the battleground. Everything we do on the fireground relates to building construction.
