Chief Teliha has dedicated his career to saving lives and property and he remains focused on this task helping Waymo become the world's most trusted driver. Peter is a retired Austin Fire Department chief officer with over 30 yrs on the job and tours in operations, command, ARFF, wildfire, logistics and safety. He currently works with the Waymo Safety Team as a Waymo - Firefighter - First Responder Ambassador. Within Waymo, Chief Teliha is considered a fire industry subject matter expert and he has taught hundreds of firefighters about the Waymo autonomous vehicle. As a part of the Waymo First Responder Outreach Team, Chief Teliha routinely provides public safety and fire specific guidance to all divisions within Waymo and he routinely represents Waymo at local, regional and national events. As a public safety expert in autonomy, he understands the potential for Waymo's technology to save lives. Chief Teliha is a proud graduate from Texas A&M University.  He resides in Central Texas with his wife of 35 years and when not traveling, hiking or gardening, they split their time visiting their sons in the east and west coasts.
