Lieutenant/Paramedic, Colorado Springs (CO) Fire Department
RACHAEL STAEBELL began her career in public safety in 2000 as an EMT for a local ambulance company. In 2001, she became a volunteer firefighter with the Fountain (CO) Fire Department and then became its first paid, full-time female firefighter in 2002. She was hired by Colorado Springs (CO) Fire Department in 2005. By 2012, she was promoted to the rank of paramedic and, in 2016, to her current rank as lieutenant. She is the HOT coordinator for Women in Fire and teaches and coordinates hands-on training at conferences. She has taught fitness and leadership classes at conferences at the state and national levels.
