Aerial Operator Fundamentals

Wednesday, April 22
This class will discuss issues aerial device operators face on a daily basis across the country. It is for current or aspiring operators, company officers, training officers, and chief officers. Topics include current manufacturer design features, maximizing stabilization system effectiveness, principles of positioning, device tip placement for differing objective, on-scene device operations, and an analysis of LODDs related to aerial device operations. A review of these incidents helps identify areas of concern for our operations and areas our training should be focusing on. The topics discussed can be used by all departments and applied to both initial and ongoing training to help novice and experienced operators build the muscle memory needed to achieve efficient and effective task completion, resulting in maintaining high operational tempo on the fireground.
