Large Truck Extrication

Wednesday, April 22
Room 123-124
You can't take a small-car approach to a large truck extrication. When large trucks are involved, the hazards increase. Construction, various loads carried, fuel types/capacities, and the sheer weight of large trucks require increased rescuer knowledge. Performing extrication on large trucks requires tools to be operated in unique positions. This would include placing the tools above their shoulders or operating from elevated platforms. It is also critical for rescuers to understand the importance of identifying the need for outside resources such as heavy wreckers. This class addresses construction, hazard, stabilization, and disentanglement.
