Live Fire: The Evolving Fireground-Search and Extinguishment
The modern fireground is constantly evolving, presenting new challenges and hazards to todays firefighters. This live fire, hands-on class is designed to prepare firefighters to safely and aggressively operate in these dynamic environments. Live fire scenarios will visually demonstrate critical fire behavior concepts such as rollover, flow path dynamics, and the effects of ventilation. Students will rotate through four stations: Flow Path, Fire Behavior, Fire Attack, and Search. Each station will emphasize key tactical skills including interior and exterior fire attack, door control, search techniques, and vent-enter-search. This course places a strong emphasis on aggressive, coordinated fireground tactics while maintaining firefighter safety within active flow paths. Students will leave with a deeper understanding of modern fire dynamics and learn how to effectively apply these concepts to search and extinguishment operations in their own departments.
