Medical Response to Radiation Emergencies
One word can stop an emergency response in its tracks: radiation. The term is loaded with misconceptions and fear, resulting in radiophobia that can prevent an effective response. This class will provide medical responders of all levels an understanding of current uses of radiation in today's world, likely threats, detection, medical management, crisis communication, and case studies. Included is the use of detection equipment to survey low-dose radiation sources in a safe, controlled environment.
