Mental Toughness Tactics for the Fireground

Thursday, April 23
Wabash 3
If you want to build mental toughness and high performance at every fire, every interview, every meeting, then this class will teach you. See examples of how high-performance operators and leaders have prepared their minds using neuroscience and cognitive behavioral techniques in fields of SWAT, special operators, and professional athletes. Learn how our bodies ramp up on tones of the pager, or station alarm, then how to reduce anxiety, heart rates, lower breathing, and focus neural activity. Perform like a tactical operator and train your crew to become tactical operators. This class will illustrate solutions compiled from multiple training drills in fire attack, incident command, technical rescue, and everyday calls. We will practice how to do mental visualizations, do tactical breathwork, change our self-talk, and use yoga to improve stretching and down regulate after a call.
