EMS Fundamentals

The EMT has been the backbone of EMS since its inception, but it is not an "entry level job," as it brings with it responsibility, accountability, and an ever-growing scope of practice and required knowledge base. With the ever-changing landscape of EMS, more patients being treated at home and not in the hospital, and the workforce shortage of paramedics, the "basic" EMT is not so basic anymore. And if you have not noticed, the fire service is now EMS. This class will cover topics including practical understanding of relative anatomy, pathophysiology, history taking and scope of practice skills, and interventions that will aid personnel in fully using their skills to enhance patient outcomes.
