Pounding Pressures Producing Problems

Stroke patients who present with hypertension can be challenging in the prehospital setting. Poor BP control, too high or too low, can result in worsening outcomes in stroke patients. Ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients need different levels of BP control for optimal outcomes. Furthermore, poor BP regulation prior to arrival at a stroke center can delay therapy. Polk County Fire Rescue partnered with a local comprehensive stroke center to study prehospital BP management for both possible SAH and Ischemic Stroke patients using Cleviprex and Saphire pumps. This class will demonstrate how careful regulation of BP in stroke patients improved stroke outcomes in the PCFR stroke patients.
