Purpose Driven-Mission Minded

Friday, April 24
This class charges the members of the fire service to show up and be intentional toward the people they work beside. It's understood that the citizens of the community we serve are number one, that never changes. However, the people we work beside--our crew--should be our second biggest focus. From the time we step out of our vehicle and into the firehouse, it should be our purpose and mission, every shift, to make sure that we are doing everything we can to get to know and maintain a high functioning relationship with those on our crew. Our crew deserves every chance to be taken care of. We should be pouring everything we have into them, through conversation, mentorship, eating together, crew workouts, training, having a cup coffee at the kitchen table, or gathering at the back bumper of the rig just to discuss the day. When we serve others wholeheartedly, everyone benefits, even the one serving.
