Tactical Response to Explosive Gas Emergencies

Tuesday, April 21
This class fills a huge training gap for career, volunteer, industrial, and military firefighters who respond to explosive gases and flammable liquids. It concentrates on three main areas: critical background information and case histories of recent LODDs at gas emergencies, understanding and use of combustible gas detectors, and appropriate development and implementation of gas industry based best practices and SOPs. It includes an information-based section, a hands-on section using a tabletop explosion chamber for practice with gas detectors, and a tabletop model town for practice implementing and using appropriate SOPs. It is based on lessons learned from a very near double LODD at what was considered a routine gas emergency.
