The Crossroads of Trauma: From Tactical to Traditional

Wednesday, April 22
Room 107
CAPCE Credit , High-Threat & Technical Rescue

Every day, fire and EMS personnel operate at the critical intersection of tactical decision making and traditional trauma care. This class is designed to empower responders with the mindset and knowledge necessary to navigate the critical process of patient care transfer during high-threat incidents, focusing on the seamless transition from tactical emergency medical support to traditional prehospital emergency medical services. High-threat environments-such as active shooter incidents, terrorist attacks, and hazardous entry scenarios-demand rapid, decisive medical interventions often initiated by tactical medics operating under unique constraints. As the incident stabilizes, these patients must be effectively handed off to conventional EMS providers for continued care and transport. Attendees will leave with a comprehensive, all-hazards framework for trauma care that considers multiple levels of provider training, agency capabilities, and transport modalities--whether by ground, air, or specialized response teams.

*Eligible for CEH/CAPCE Credit
