The Functional Fire Company
This class discusses the leadership and operational considerations that have proven effective for developing high-performing functional fire company teams. It takes a simple, nontraditional look at the individual and organizational elements that influence preparation in the firehouse and performance on the fireground. Topics include defining success and what makes a fire company functional, why they become dysfunctional, and action steps to become and remain functional. The class highlights a six-step system: commitment, culture, character, competence, capabilities, and coordination.
