The Hat Dance: Realities of the Short-Staffed Company Officer

Friday, April 24
The time between initial certification and the first promotional process provides the best opportunity for occupational growth but is often underutilized or overlooked. Probie to promotee is a spin on "things I wish I knew," laying out what we wanted to ask as new members but more importantly highlighting the things we didn't know we should have asked. This class will discuss how to navigate the transition from recruit training to firehouse life, creating and modeling behaviors, properly implementing formal and informal training, sharing and building experience, and proactive promotional preparation. From how we stage our gear to how to become promotable, this course will give new firefighters and their bosses the tools necessary to make competent, prepared firefighters the future of the department.
