The Limb and Life-Threatening Trio of Crush Syndrome, Crush Injury, and Compartment Syndrome
When first learning about or encountering patients with crush syndrome, crush injury, or compartment syndrome, it can be challenging to keep straight these three very different but often intertwined clinical scenrios. This class will discuss the causes, clinical presentation, and management of these low-frequency but extraordinarily high-risk situations. Whether an intoxicated or overdosed patient lying on the sidewalk at a bus stop or a mass-casualty incident in the setting of a collapsed structure or confined space rescue, this interactive and case-based class will address not just the science but also the practical recognition, assessment, stabilization, monitoring, and management of these very challenging and complex clinical situations.
