Training First-Due Volunteer Company Officers

Wednesday, April 22
Room 234
Officer training is a constantly sought-out class. However, as a professional fire service, we seem to have forgotten or frankly ignored the fact that there can be a huge divide between large job needs and those of the volunteers! Let's face it, so many volunteer and on-call fire departments needs are pushed to the side in the spirt of "we are all the same" and "one size fits all"! Nothing can be further from the truth. Volunteer departments are different and have different needs. The vast majority are small jobs with minimal fire calls. Yet, look at what is offered for fire officer training nationally. This class is designed to recognize the needs of the volunteer service and to provide a foundation of what skills a volunteer fire officer must have to be safe and effective on the fireground.
