Urban Toxicology

Friday, April 24
Toxidromes can be used to readily identify potential toxins and then hopefully refresh your memory on their needed life-saving interventions. However, unfortunately, one of the most fatal toxidromes is seen with acute lead poisoning. This class will cover cases from the first year of a prehospital whole blood program, covering numerous cases from the street to the stretcher to the OR and lessons learned along the way. It will discuss traditional teachings on trauma recognition and management that may have led us astray from our role in the prehospital salvage of the trauma patient. This will be a charismatic, case-based discussion on ways to recognize and rapidly treat both hemorrhagic shock and other life-threatening injuries or urban toxidromes.
