No Surprises on Arrival: The Right Intelligence Before the First Line Is Pulled; ESRI

Tuesday, April 21
Speakers:

Jeff Lenard, DC Fire/EMS
Mike Cox, Director Fire & EMS Solutions; ESRI

Firefighters make critical decisions in the first moments of an incident—often with incomplete information. What if responders knew before they arrived that they were responding to a vacant or blighted structure, a building with rooftop solar, or a location with nearby hydrants out of service?

This session explores how fire departments can integrate multiple datasets—pre‑incident plans, inspections, hydrant status, risk indicators, and other operational intelligence—to deliver actionable, location‑based awareness to crews while en route. Presenters will demonstrate how Esri’s Pre‑Incident Planning solution helps departments of all sizes assemble and operationalize this information, even without large prevention divisions or dedicated data collection teams.

The goal is simple: reduce on‑scene surprises, improve decision‑making, and help firefighters arrive already thinking through the risks—before they ever step off the rig.
