Effective Fire Service Leadership: Point-to-Point Decision Making
In the fire service, getting from point “A” to point “B” is a challenge on emergency incident scenes, especial critical incidents. In addition, firefighters are faced with challenges around the fire station and challenges in the administrative arena, like development of a succession plan or team. Point-to-point leadership provides fundamental principles that identify the challenges that fire service leaders encounters, and this class will offer a step-by-step process to get through difficult situations and incidents. It will review case studies of the decision making that occurred on large-scale incidents. Then, based on the six steps of becoming a Critical Decision Maker, it will review the decisions from a different perspective. Achievement is not arriving at the solution; it is the journey (from one point to another) and overcoming the obstacles to achieve a successful outcome.
