Good, Bad and Ugly High-Rise Construction and Alteration Projects

Tuesday, April 16
Precon Workshop
Firefighting

The ever-changing high-rise environment from the inception of a new building to its potential alteration/renovation project has many different activities that will actively involve the fire services and other emergency responders. This course will emphasize the incident process system for a construction site response and take you through problems, processes, and intricacies a fire department needs to prepare for an emergency response with effective fire/all-hazard emergency action plans. It offers an overview of the hazards present as the building is being constructed and major renovation or alteration projects in an existing building. What will be emphasized is the value of a site fire safety manager and recognition of the potential for fires, worker injuries, structural and nonstructural collapse events, and building system failures.

Jack Murphy, Fire Marshal (Ret)/Fmr. Deputy Chief - Retired
