Diversity of Leadership Styles

Women In Fire
Diversity

Leadership is a key factor for the success and effectiveness of any fire service organization. However, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to leadership, as different situations and challenges may require different styles and strategies. Supporting a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace requires us to have the fundamentals in place so we can build a common understanding of workplace behavior expectations. This class will help participants explore the diversity of leadership styles in the fire service and learn how to adapt and apply them to their own contexts and goals. Participants will also discuss examples of different leadership styles in the fire service and assess their own leadership style preferences and strengths.

Speakers
Khalilah Yancey, Deputy Chief - Baltimore City (MD) Fire Department
Gary Menard, Captain - Decatur (GA) Fire Rescue
