Do you have the “courage under fire” it takes to be a great leader and great fire service professional of any rank not just today, but in the future? Leadership is not about rank. All ranks have leadership potential and expectations. Numerous situations (good and not-so-good) that have occurred at fire departments across the country will be shared and discussed in a positive, productive manner. Topics to be discussed include but are not limited to: leadership traits of successful leaders, the pros and cons of being a leader in today's fire service, the challenges of being a leader today, the numerous roles and responsibilities of a fire officer, how to balance being stuck in the middle as a fire officer - ensuring they support and have the backs of their personnel while also ensuring they support and have the backs of their command staff, and how to ensure we are providing the best possible service to the communities we are fortunate to protect and serve. Attendees will leave with numerous tips and suggestions to use on and off the job.
