Grant Writing for Emergency Services: An In Depth Review (36MA)
Due to inflation, politics, and many other reasons, the cost of resources and equipment constantly increases. Just a few years ago, you could purchase an SCBA for a couple of thousand dollars. Now prices are two to three times that. However, we still need these resources to be able to accomplish our mission of life safety, property preservation, and incident stabilization. Grants are one way that a department can find funding to purchase equipment and complete projects. However, most people within the fire service who write grants lack much of the knowledge to be successful in obtaining funding. This project focuses on building a foundational knowledge to aid in the success of those within the departments who are part of the grant writing program. It is the goals of the presentation to build knowledge of grant writing, dispel myths, provide tips for success and share resources in increasing the opportunities for success.
In this session, we will spend four hours diving into everything grants and how they impact the fire service. This is a much more in depth version of the 1 hour 45 minute version of the session. This format allows for us to go more into depth in all aspects of grants and what the attendees need to know to be more effective and efficient in submitting proposals for potential grants.
