NFPA 1400: Roadmap for the Modern Fire Instructor (41TA)
NFPA 1400: Roadmap for the Modern Fire Instructor is an interactive program that provides fire service instructors, training officers, and company officers with a practical roadmap for integrating the NFPA 1400 into firefighter training programs while maintaining alignment with the Job Performance Requirements (JPRs) of NFPA 1010. Participants will explore how NFPA 1400 standards support competency-based training and how firefighter knowledge and skills can be effectively developed, documented, and evaluated through a structured training process.
The course focuses on connecting required firefighter competencies to both the requisite knowledge and requisite skills identified in NFPA 1010. Attendees will learn how to design training evolutions that meet NFPA 1400 requirements, document compliance, and create measurable outcomes that support firefighter development and organizational readiness.
Special emphasis will be placed on implementation strategies for departments with limited staffing, budgets, and training resources. Through practical examples, case studies, and a train-the-trainer approach, participants will gain tools and methodologies that can be immediately applied within their own organizations. By the conclusion of the program, attendees will be prepared to develop sustainable, NFPA 1400 compliant training programs that enhance firefighter competency, improve operational performance, and strengthen safety on the fireground.
