Shoring Extreme Angles the Fast and Easy Way: Using Paratech Struts and Wooden Shores

Tuesday, April 13

This four-hour, hands-on course provides fire service personnel with practical techniques for shoring severely angled and unstable structural conditions using Paratech struts and traditional wooden shores. The class includes approximately 30 minutes of lecture and 3 hours and 20 minutes of instructor-guided practical exercises. Students will learn how to determine angles, calculate measurements, and lay out shore systems using the proper tools and procedures. At a dedicated cutting station, instructors will demonstrate techniques for calculating and cutting complex angles, followed by hands-on student application that will include construction of:  A severely angled, 45-degree solid-sole raker shore, a double-angled sloped-floor shore using a combination of wood and Paratech struts. A three-post T-shore will also be displayed and the application discussed. Emphasis will be placed on efficient layout, accurate angle determination, proper tool use, safe erection procedures, and practical field applications.
