The Other Forcible Entry: Through the Lock (24TP)

Tuesday, April 13

Every alarm deserves a level of professionalism that requires a thorough size up to determine the best means of access under any conditions and/or  “justifying” the level of “acceptable” damage. This combination lecture and hands-on classroom focuses on the fundamentals of through the lock to build a foundation of lock knowledge and executing techniques that can range from non-invaise to conventional forcible entry. To embrace the true hybrid aspect, the class will start with a lecture that focuses primarily on aluminum stile “storefronts” and the three common lock types. The presentation, which will encourage group participation, will focus on the sizing up the “system” which encompasses all components of the entry way and locks, frame and surrounding support structures as well as the fore thought to always develop a progression when plan “A” is unsucessful. Following the lecture, attendees will be divided into groups, rotated through stations that focus on specific techniques and encouraged to go hands on. The key take away of this class is to build confidence and implement, plan “A”, the through the lock on “storefronts”; the Gold Standard on aluminum stile doors.
