Mike Brown Appointed Development Editor of the Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) and EMS Training at FDIC International
Rochelle Park, NJ (August 14, 2025) — Clarion Events, producer of the Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) and FDIC International, are pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Brown, AAS, NREMT-P, FP-C as Development Editor for JEMS.
In this role, Brown will lead strategic planning and brand growth for JEMS, oversee the development of impactful content across digital platforms, and cultivate partnerships that enhance the brand’s presence at key industry events.
“I’m honored to join the JEMS team and help shape the future of this trusted platform,” said Brown. “EMS is evolving rapidly, and my goal is to ensure JEMS remains at the forefront of connecting providers with the knowledge, resources, and community they need to thrive.”
With a career spanning more than two decades in fire, EMS, and law enforcement, Brown brings a wealth of frontline experience. He currently serves as a Captain with the Fort Wayne Fire Department, a Flight Paramedic with Parkview Samaritan, and a Tactical Paramedic with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Services Team.
A respected educator and national conference presenter, Brown has instructed at FDIC International, in addition to presentations at EMSWorld Expo, the Wisconsin EMS Association Conference, and other leading events. His contributions to EMS education were recognized in 2024 when he was named Educator of the Year by the Indiana EMS Association.
In addition to his role at JEMS, Brown will also be instrumental in programming EMS content at FDIC International, North America's largest fire and rescue training conference and exposition. With over 37,000 attendees, 36% of whom hold an EMS Certification, FDIC International is a critical platform for delivering cutting-edge training and education to emergency services professionals. Under Brown's guidance, FDIC International will feature a range of EMS-focused programming, including hands-on training sessions, active shooter workshops, CEU eligible classroom sessions, and EMS Sim City, where professionals can participate in high-stress simulations to hone their skills and decision-making abilities in real-world scenarios.
“Mike Brown exemplifies the kind of leadership, experience, and passion that drives our mission forward,” said David Rhodes, Editor in Chief for Fire & Rescue Media. “His deep roots in EMS and commitment to education make him an ideal fit to help elevate the JEMS brand in addition to programming content to serve the rising attendee demographic at FDIC who need to stay current on their EMS training and certification. We’re excited to welcome him to the team and look forward to the impact he’ll make.”
Brown will work with JEMS managing editor Jeff Frankel, contributors, and industry partners to expand educational offerings, spotlight innovation, and reinforce the brand’s role as a leading voice in prehospital care.
