Bryan Kowalczyk
Bryan Kowalczyk is the Co-Director of the Applied Autonomy Lab at the University of Cincinnati, where he specializes in research on Uncrewed Aircraft, Emergency Management, Connected Autonomous Vehicles, and Advanced Air Mobility. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the university’s Fire Science and Emergency Management program, teaching courses on Uncrewed Systems and Next-Generation Technology for Emergency Responders. With 14 years of experience in Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS), Advanced Air Mobility, and Connected Autonomous Vehicles, Bryan holds a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (since 2016) with waivers for TFR and Tactical BVLOS. He has extensive flight experience with platforms such as DJI, Skydio, Pixhawk, Intel, Parrot, and Fotokite, and has conducted flight operations with organizations like NASA, the Air Force Research Lab, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Bryan is actively involved in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) as the Director of the Young Professionals Group and a Faculty Advisor for the University of Cincinnati’s AIAA student branch. He also contributes to multiple industry committees, including the Multi-Modal Integration Steering Committee for Advanced Air Mobility and the National Advanced Air Mobility Center of Excellence (NAAMCE). Additionally, Bryan volunteers as a UAS pilot and support member for UAS500 – South-West Ohio Regional Drone Team.
