Daniel Arroyo
Battalion Chief Daniel Arroyo was born and raised in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 2001. In 2002, he joined the volunteer division of the Fire Department and completed his initial firefighter basic training at the Middlesex County Fire Academy. Danny worked as a 9-1-1 emergency dispatcher from 2002 to 2005 before being transferred to the Perth Amboy Fire Department as an Emergency Medical Technician. In 2012, he was sworn in as a Career Firefighter and was promoted to Captain in 2018. In 2024, Danny was promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief and currently serves as the Chief of Training, assigned to administration. He also serves as one of the department's Fire Investigators. Danny graduated from the Union County College Paramedic Program and holds an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Purdue Global University, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration and Investigations from Columbia Southern University. He works as a fire instructor at the Monmouth County Fire Academy and owns his own fire training business, Fire Training & Consultants, LLC. He holds several certifications, including NJ Level 3 Incident Manager, NJ State Fire Investigator, and Hazmat On-Scene Incident Commander, and is a state-certified Level 2 Fire Instructor. He also has achieved his Training Officer Credentialing Certification from the International Society of Fire Service Instructors. Additionally, Danny is a member of the Perth Amboy Fire Department’s Special Operations Division, Marine Division, Peer Support Team, and Fire Investigations Unit. He was a founding member of the SCUBA Dive Rescue Team and served as the former commander of the Honor Guard Ceremonial Unit. Furthermore, Danny is the Secretary of the Perth Amboy Fire Officers Union, FMBA Local 258, and serves as the Education & Training Chairman for the NJ FMBA, one of New Jersey's largest labor unions representing over six thousand firefighters, fire officers, EMTs, and dispatchers. Danny is also a State Advocate and Instructor for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Throughout his career, Danny has attended specialized training across the United States, including the National Fire Academy in Maryland, Texas A&M TEEX Fire School, CTOS Weapons of Mass Destruction Training in Las Vegas, the SERTC Training Facility in Colorado, "The Rock" FDNY Training Academy, FDIC in Indianapolis, and the National Honor Guard Academy in Connecticut. Danny has received multiple commendations for his leadership and service, such as the Knights of Columbus Shield Award in 2015, the Kevin Apuzzio Memorial Scholarship in 2016, the 200 Club of Middlesex County, NJ Meritorious Service Award in 2019, and the Saint Barnabas Team Effort Award in 2022. In 2016, he was honored for his dedication to his Puerto Rican heritage and recognized as a Puertorriqueño Ilustre (Illustrious Puerto Rican) by the Comité Patriótico Cultural-Puertorriqueño in his hometown of Perth Amboy, NJ. Danny resides in Aberdeen, NJ, with his wife Tara, son Luka, daughter Ayla, and their dog Augie.
