Joseph Berchtold, a 40-year veteran of the fire service, was promoted to chief of the Teaneck (NJ) Fire Department in 2022. He has the following New Jersey state certifications: Level II Instructor, Arson Investigator, Fire Official, and EMT. He taught at the Bergen County (NJ) Fire Academy for 29 years.
